LOCAL McDONALD’S RESTAURANTS SPICE UP THEIR MENUS WITH THE RETURN OF THE OLD BAY® FILET-O-FISH

Iconic Filet-O-Fish is made from 100% sustainable fisheries with wild-caught Alaskan Pollack

WASHINGTON, D.C. – January 29, 2016 Starting on February 1, the OLD BAY Filet-O-Fish will return to more than 600 participating McDonald’s restaurants in Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia, Delaware and the West Virginia panhandle.

The sandwich, which features a specially formulated OLD BAY® tartar sauce on the iconic Filet-O-Fish®, will be available for a limited time during the Lenten season.

The OLD BAY Filet-O-Fish is made with wild-caught Alaskan Pollock in the U.S. The fish is 100% sourced from sustainable fisheries certified by the Marine Stewardship Council, honoring McDonald’s® commitment to serving sustainable products in all of its U.S. locations and protecting our oceans.

“McDonald’s is committed to good ingredients and good food,” said Mark Furr, a local McDonald’s franchisee from Baltimore. “The OLD BAY Filet-O-Fish is great way for us to deliver both to our customers in the region with a true, local taste. We’re thrilled to bring it back.”

“OLD BAY is proud to collaborate once again with McDonald’s to offer a delicious way to enjoy the distinct flavor of OLD BAY in the Chesapeake Bay region,” said Justin Corrado, OLD BAY Product Manager.  “The zesty taste of OLD BAY is the ultimate seafood seasoning, so teaming up again with this classic fish favorite is a perfect pairing.”

From the Big Mac to the Egg McMuffin, many of McDonald’s most iconic products have been developed by local franchisees.  Regional tastes and customer preferences have played a key role, and the new OLD BAY Filet-O-Fish is no exception.

The idea for the product started at a world-wide McDonald’s convention in 2014 when Mark Furr was taste-testing new menu items and was inspired by how great OLD BAY would be on various menu offerings from McDonald’s, such as the Filet-O-Fish.

More than one-million OLD BAY Filet-O-Fish sandwiches were sold during its limited-time offering in 2015.
